Float

For this picture I was just trying to make it seem as if he was floating in the air. This was probly the hardest picture to take because it's not photoshoped so trying to get the right shutterspeed was a challenge and also that changed the lighting. What pose to make when jumping was one of our challenges I just we just went for whatever came out.

For this picture we were just trying to make it seem as if she was standing on the air. For this picture the background moved so that was hard. And we aren't really creative so I think that's hard.

My insipation for this picture was to make it seem as if he was pushing off the ground to lift himself up. Actually posing for the picture I think was pretty hard for him because we had to take the picture really fast. It was really hard to come up with new ideas.

Poses

Location: behind one of the bungalows
Problems: location
This was the best picture because the lines on the wall make the picture more dimentional and I thought that looked better than all the other ones. I think it could be better if that fence wasn't in the background.

Location: infront when exiting the 200 building
Problems: posing
I thought this was the best picture becuase I like how he was posed and also some of the other pictures didn't look as good because of the lighting. It could be improved if maybe the background was blurred out so he could be the main focal point.

Location: sidewalk by the Q hut
Problems: facing the sun
I like this picture the best because it shows his facial expression and in some of the other pictures there wasnt any eye to camera connection. I think it's a little too bright becuase of the sun.

Location: sidewalk by the Q hut
Problems: facing the sun
I also liked this picture because of the body possition it demonstrates the task.
I think it could be improved if we weren't facing directly at the sun.

Location:grass in the middle of the courtyard
Problems: lighting
I liked this picture the most because of the photo angle to the side.
It could be improved by maybe moving the camera up or down to make it more interesting.

Location: grass in the middle of the courtyard
Problems: lighting
I lilked this picture becuase his eyes were looking at the camera.
It could be better if maybe Icroped it more.

Location: side of the library
Problems: skill
I really liked this picture because it looks really cool since the hat is on the tip of his finger.
It could of been better if it was taken from an angle in which his face would of been showing.

Location: infront of administration
Problems: camera settings
This was the best picture because the other ones had really annoying backgrounds and you couldn't really find the ball.
The original picture was actually really really dark and I had to brighten it up alot so if I were to have taken it better it would look better.

Location: infont of the student store
Problems: creativity
I thought this was the best picuture because it's alot more interesting than all the other ones, I like their face expresions.
I could be better if maybe they were jumping in the air or something.

Location: in the girls bathroom by the library
Problems: posing
This was the best picture becuase it's funny and it makes you want to know what was going on.
It could of been better if there was a girl coming out of the bathroom lol.

What was actually really hard was trying to get good lighting because you can't be in the dark and the background with light and then when you are in the light you have to facing the sun so there won't be shadows but then you have weird face expressions cause it's hard when you're staring at the sun. I guess we tried to just face the sun and tell the model when to open their eyes.
I think I'm alot more aware when taking a picture because you have to pay attention to all these different factors or else you have a boring picture. But I think it's hard to memorize all the settings when you want to take a certain type of picture. But I've certainly learned alot becase I didn't even know there were all these different ways to take a picture.
I think I'd like to learn anything at this point becuase you can always incorporate it to your every day life.

Vermeer

Shooting pictures of somebody else is really hard because besides the fact that your trying to take a good picture and you have to set up the camera you also have something else that your trying to change and that's kinda hard when the model doesn't know what your doing so you have to tell them where to stand which way to look and how to pose.
Being the model is just as incredibly hard because you have no idea how you look and it's akward and you feel like your traped there and you don't know what you should do next. I think the photographer and the model need to have an extreme verbal connection when shooting.
I think a good photographer is one who knows how to multitask, is creative, and knows how to talk to people; and a good model is one who is helpful and can follow along with the task.

Portraits

This is a picture of Axl Rose, there's not much in the picture besides his jewelry and his pants, you can kinda tell what type of person he is by looking at his tattoos. I see a picture of a person who is maybe alone, I think he could be looking directly at someone, or maybe he's looking into a mirror. This picture makes me wonder what he was going through there's this sadness in his eyes.

This is a picture of Angelina Jolie, there's nothing in the picture besides herself, I see someone who's very beautiful. I think she could be fixing her hair, getting ready, or she's just posing.  I think there's this look she's giving off I wonder what she was thinking.
This is also a picture of Angelina Jolie, it looks like she's most likely in a room, and she's not wearing any clothes. I think she was laughing with someone she looks really happy, she could of just got out of bed, or maybe she's changing again. This picture makes me question why she's so happy.
This is a pictue of a baby being held by his mom. I think he saw something really interesting, he could be looking at his dad, or maybe he likes to take pictures. This picture makes me want to know what is it that the baby was looking at that's so interesting.

This is a picture of a girl in a dress standing outside, I think she's by a school or a building but she's standing in the middle of the street and I would guess it's hot outside since she's wearing a dress. I'm not quite sure if she was dancing, maybe it's really windy, or she was spinning around having fun with a friend. This picture makes me question what she was doing because her body movement is not something you see everyday.

MIDTERM portfolio

1.Rule of Thirds
This picture represents the rule of thirds because the panda is set off to one side. I think this picture stood out the most because I also used depth of field and that made the background more distant making the panda the main focus. I think this image could be stronger if the panda was bigger.

2.Fill the Frame
This image represents filling the frame because the entire shot is these lights. I think this is a really good picture because of the lighting it makes the picture interesting. It could be better if  maybe it was something more interesting than lights.

3.Lines

This picture represents leading lines because the chain leads to the bottom of this hole. I thought this was a good representation because it leads your eye to the focal point. I could be better if  the picture was in focus more.

 4.Angles

This is a representation of angles taken from behind this whale. I liked this picture the most because it plain but interesting. It could be better if maybe there was more to it.

5.Patterns
This picture represents patterns because as you can see there are many windows. I like this picture because of the light reflecting of the glass. I think it could be better if the line extended to many more windows.

6.Framing

This picture represents framing because the water creates an arch. I like this picture because it shows movement and the whales kinda staring at you. This could be better if the whale would of been centered to the arch.

7.ABC
I don't have any pictures for the ABC's because they got deleted after we made the poster. :c

8.Shutter Speed
This represents shutter speed because Patrick is jumping still in the air. I like this picture because of his face expression and his body position lol. This could of been better if that cart wasn't in the picture.

 9.Panning
This picture represents panning because the background is blurred and the focal point is in focus. I liked this picture because I thought it was funny. I could be better if the car itself were more in focus.

10.Depth of Field

This is a representation of depth of field because there's a bokeh effect in the background. I liked this picture because it's almost perfect I really liked the dots in the background they remind me of Christmas. This could be improved by maybe moving the panda of to the side.

11.WILDCARD
This is another representation of depth of field. I really liked this picture because it looks really nice. It could be improved by maybe getting more of the plant into the frame.

The hardest challenge probably was dealing with those cameras in the beginning of the year and learning how to use the new cameras. Yes, I was able to overcome it and everything got much easier. My biggest success was learning everything we did which was quite a lot. I really liked learning how to take depth of field pictures. This will all help me in the second semester because you build up from what you learn. I would really like to know how to take pictures at night because we haven't experienced dealing with no light. Mr. Pedersen could improve my experience in class by teaching us more:) and I could improve by learning.

DOF Photo Corrected

For all my pictures I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. I think the adjustments enhanced the pictures and made the colors richer. I usually don't like editing pictures so I tried not to make such a huge impact but I guess a little does a lot but I'm glad with the final result because it looks way better. I don't think there's anything else to fix in this picture.

I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. Same with this picture the adjustments increased the color. With this picture I was fine with editing it because it looks better and it really changed the color. I liked this picture as well, there's nothing to fix.

I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. For this picture I was really excited that I captured the hummingbird so I cropped it a little, but the adjustments did brighten the picture. I wanted to edit this picture but I don't think the adjustments worked so good because there's too much green it kinda hurts my eyes. I think if I didn't put so much white the brightness wouldn't be so strong and it would look better.

I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. I think this picture had the greatest change because the blacks really got darker so that made the picture not look washed out. I didn't expect this picture to have such a big difference but it looks a lot better. I like this picture I don't think there's anything I need to fix.

I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. The adjustments for this picture really changed the lighting but I think it kinda made his face too orange. I think for this picture the adjustments made the bokeh effect strong. I would like to fix Carlos' face because he looks to orange.

I changed the black levels from 0 to 25 and the whites from 255 to 235. I cropped this picture as well because the bottom of the leaves had some weird blur thing so I thought it looked better. I was fine with making adjustments to this picture. I think for this picture if I would of taken another picture the weird blur thing in the corner wouldn't of came out and the picture would of been better.

Shallow depth of field is when the subject or object is completely in focus and the background is blurred out so you can't make out what it is. Large depth of field is when the entire picture is in focus, it's usually a scenery. You use TV mode when you want to change all of the settings and AV mode when you only want to change the F stop so distance. The hardest part of this assignment was finding backgrounds that would blur out enough or ones that had color.
